B- Marcos Ambrose – Here’s your road course ace. He’s a stone cold lock to start for both of the road courses. I don’t care if he starts 43rd. Also has been good at Texas, Bristol, Dover, Chicagoland, Kansas, Indy, Martinsville, Phoenix, New Hampshire and Richmond. Also should get consideration at the restrictor plate tracks. I could see 5 starts next year.
B- Martin Truex Jr. – Here’s my sleeper next year. He excels at Phoenix, Homestead, Darlington, Dover (home track), New Hampshire, California, Michigan and Texas. He’ll also get some love for my restrictor plate teams as he is good at Talladega. He’s won at Dega in the Nationwide Series. I’m thinking 5-8 starts.
B- Dale Earnhardt Jr – What a mess. One would think he’d bounce back but I’m not counting on it. He’ll be very good at Daytona, Talladega, Martinsville, Bristol, Richmond, Phoenix, Texas, Atlanta, Michigan, Darlington, Vegas, New Hampshire and Pocono. Man that’s a lot of tracks. So I’m expecting Junebug to give us 6-9 starts hopefully. It’s now or never. His career is really similiar to Michael Waltrip’s if you think about it. Good at plate tracks then fades and owns his own team. Not a compliment for the record. I wish him luck though.
B- David Ragan – We all expected big things from David last year but didn’t get them. His home track is Atlanta and he should be good at the Ford tracks. New crew chief coming next year. He’s good at California, Michigan, Atlanta, Richmond, Daytona and Talladega. It’s possible we get 5 starts, but 1- 2 is more likely.
B- Other B list options are Mears, Allmendinger, McMurray, Sadler, Hornish, Keselowski, Sorenson or Labonte. It’s a shame AJ is a b driver because he’s really coming on. It’s hard to justify using him in the B list with all the other good drivers. McMurray, with Bono, being good at flat tracks, if he stays, could be useful at Martinsville, New Hampshire, Plate tracks and road courses. All other are useless though. Keselowski will have some good runs, but are you really going to take him over a seasoned vet?
C-Scott Speed – We will have less this year than in years past. It hurts to say, but i think we have to use him 9 times. Homestead, Bristol, Vegas, Texas and then pray. Stick to the intermediates though. I don’t think I would use him at restrictor plates as you’ll need him on intermediates.
C- Bobby Labonte – Hopefully a C driver in the #71. I like him at Atlanta, Lowe’s, Darlington, Phoenix, Martinsville, Bristol, Vegas, New Hampshire, and Richmond. 9 starts. No plate tracks as you’ll need his 9 starts on short tracks.
C- Regan Smith – Running full time next year and we will need him. Daytona, Talladega, and flat tracks is where he runs well, such as Bristol, Darlington, Dover and Martinsville. 9 starts, I’m thinking “gulp”.
C- Bill Elliot – Should run at some of the intermediates and hopefully get 5 starts.
C- Robby Gordon – Only has limited sponsorship for next year. I would expect him to have it for Infineon and Watkins Glen, which is where we will get our 2 starts. If he runs Daytona or Talladega, he would be useful there as well.
C- Michael Waltrip – is supposed to run a limited schedule. I could see running him at Daytona or Talladega. 2-4 starts.
C- Paul Menard – Not sure what car he’ll drive, but in decent equipment could see getting 4-6 starts at short tracks.
C- Erik Darnell – Could suprise, but hasn’t shown much.
C- David Gilliand – Driving the 4th Joe Gibbs, car could be good. Decent little road course driver and could see us using him some.
C- Boris Said and Ron Fellows at road courses could get 2 starts total.
Hey Ray…racingone.com has great stats. racing-reference.info has more.
There’s some more spots open in group #2262 , password = fantasy Plus it has a prize pack for the winner, supposedly
I’m sure if you follow some of the great advice in the forum, I can guarantee you that you will finish much better this year…Good Luck.
Great job. Tell me of a site where I can find
loop data to see driver ratings, avg running position, laps in top 10, etc for all individual tracks.
Are you in a YH league that I can join with a league # if I want to and you
have room? Thank you. Ray Lenexa KS
if I research past races at each track,
how many to use. would say last 2 cot
be enough. advise thanks ray
Good Advice. What I can’t find is a site where Drivers Best Tracks are ranked in order.Say about 6 or so.
For us less informed,it seems no site exists. Some fantasy games exist that a 36 race race game plan would really help.
Your article approaches the task best I have seen, yet not quite what I had in mind.If you were a novice and desired to see a LIST of all driver(with a history) where would you go?
Have copied your article to start my 36 race plan, knowing who’s hot, practices, quaifying are also factors. Keep up the good work.
thank you Ray Miller
ps. was in 20 fant games last year did lousy.
