Ray,

According to Darrell Waltrip, all the Fords have the new engine in right now, and the teams will reevaluate whether to run it in the 500 later this week.

Hey Ray, it does look like we have to downgrade the "Ford" tracks a bit after 2009. But the only problem is that these things change so much, we can only analyze on a season to season basis. Ford, and more specifically Roush Fenway, certainly could have to gone to work in the offseason and might come back to dominate the 1.5-2 mile racetracks.

The next three races after Daytona are Auto Club, Las Vegas and Atlanta, so we should have a decent idea pretty early into the season just how the Fords are going to run on the "Ford" tracks.

As for the new Ford engine, I've heard some teams will use it on and off at the beginning of the season, but it might not be fully implemented until somewhere around the Coke 600 in May. This is all just speculation, so take it with a grain of salt.
