Sylvania 300 Practice Breakdown

So much for rain canceling qualifying, my Dale Junior gamble backfired. Oh wait, you mean Junior actually qualified 12th?  I’m feeling pretty good about Junebug this week and you should too, if you have him.

As Ryan Newman so elegantly put it, this is the birthplace of track position. This is also one of the shortest races of the year. So keep that in mind when picking your team this week. Also, expect to see plenty of two-tire gambles during the race to gain or maintain track position.

A List- 48, 24, 18, 29, 14, 22, 99, 17, 16, 11

Jimmie Johnson is blazing fast on short runs, but has some work to do on longer runs. I’m betting Chad Knaus figures it out and the No. 48 team goes to Victory Lane this weekend.

Jeff Gordon is pretty happy with his car again and was actually a little quicker than his teammate on longer runs in my opinion. Gordon did complain about being tight in traffic. Don’t worry though, the No. 24 will finish top five this week.

Tony Stewart wasn’t quite as fast when the track heated up in Happy Hour. Smoke looked to be a top five car in overcast conditions early though. Stewart starts deep in the field this week, but go ahead and chalk up a top 10 for the No. 14 team this week.

The Roush Ford’s are off a bit this week. That still means they’re top 15 material though and Greg Biffle might be the fastest of the bunch. However, until the No. 16 team proves they can close the deal, I wouldn’t suggest picking them in Yahoo.
